S. Korea Particularly, the 5 ton/day scale incinerating melter for treating municipal sewage sludge has been developed successfully that yielded New Technology Certificate from the Korea Ministry of Environment in January, 2003. The core technology has been supplied from the last ten years of experience in coal gasification melting technology developments.
The center focuses on the profit-generating process developments based upon the core technologies that have been accumulated through the government-supported projects in the fields of energy and environment. Major activities involve process developments that treat wastes in an environmentally benign way as well as the turn-key engineering service in plant design/construction/startup, especially by applying gasification/melting technology. Other areas involve catalysts and process developments for reducing greenhouse gases and the technology support projects to small enterprises in environmental fields.

For the accomplishments in gasification/melting technology developments at the center, Korea Associate Council of Incineration Technology has awarded the Best Technology Award in Incineration of 2002. From the year 2000, the center has been assigned as a National Research Laboratory (Gasification/Melting Technology Lab.) that is a support program of the Korean government for the selected technologically superior group.
Computer simulation has been extensively applied in the Center's projects. Dynamic simulation can help to confirm the operability of processes and equipments when they are normally impossible to test due to safety issues. The center plans to devote its efforts in developing unique process technologies with a firm footage on the last ten years of plant-related experience.
